Importance

Because of its national scope and size, the EXPRESS study is unique internationally. The study is expected to be of major importance for future organisation of care of extremely premature babies, and it is hoped that the results will lead to improvements in care. We will gain valuable knowledge of the illness and problems that affect premature babies, not only as newborns, but also during their childhood years and into adulthood. This will enable us to map whether and to what extent different factors early in life are significant, with the overall aim of improving the long-term health of premature babies.
